When I’m in Vigan City, sometimes I want to hang out in less crowded places and sip a cup of cold coffee. That is why I’m always on the lookout for coffee shops that feel fresh but still belong here. Strolling along the quieter side of Calle Crisologo, you can spot Heritage Brew, a quaint coffee shop that offers specialty coffee. Stepping in felt like discovering a secret, and it’s worth sharing in this article. It isn’t just a café, it is a beautiful blend of old soul and bold brews.
Heritage Brew: An Overview

Heritage Brew proudly presents itself as a charming fusion of a cozy café and an elegant restaurant, nestled in the heart of Vigan City. The moment you step through its doors, you’re greeted by the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee, made from beans sourced both locally and nationally.
What truly sets Heritage Brew apart is its selection of specialty coffee options that you won’t easily find in other coffee shops around Vigan City. Beyond coffee, the café also serves distinct savory dishes, creating a well-rounded dining experience. This wide array of culinary offerings makes Heritage Brew a haven for coffee aficionados and food lovers alike.
You can find Heritage Brew at Casa Pichay, a restored 19th-century house along Calle Crisologo in Vigan City. Casa Pichay, in particular, is a UNESCO-recognized heritage house combining centuries-old architecture with modern craftsmanship. It’s the kind of architecture that respects our heritage while gently nudging us forward. As a cafe that boasts signature specialty drinks and delectable dishes, Heritage Brew offers a sensory experience that perfectly complements the timeless charm of its historic home.
To get to Heritage Brew, you walk along Calle Crisologo till you reach the other end. Cross the Liberation Boulevard and continue walking until you see the signage and this white ancestral house, complete with capiz windows, hanging lanterns, and a wooden sign to greet you. They are open from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM every day.
Exterior of Heritage Brew

From the outside, you would never guess that a café is hidden within. What immediately catches your eye is an elegant ancestral house with a particularly striking architecture and color. A simple sign lets you know you’ve arrived at Casa Pichay, the home to Heritage Brew.
Upon entering, you’re welcomed by a small patio filled with plants and a few chairs where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the breeze. There’s something almost serene about the space. I found myself drawn to the calm atmosphere even before stepping inside. But once you do enter, you’re met with a new and exciting ambience that remains deeply charming, a balance that Heritage Brew effortlessly achieves.
The exterior of Heritage Brew and Casa Pichay stands as a testament to how establishments of Vigan City prioritize the preservation of ancestral homes. They keep these centuries-old structures alive while allowing both visitors and locals to experience them. In the case of Heritage Brew, that experience comes in the simple pleasure of sipping a cup of coffee inside a home that has stood the test of time.
Interior of Heritage Brew

Upon stepping inside, you immediately feel the interplay between past and present come to life through the interior design. There’s a warmth to the space: an inviting, almost quaint charm that makes you feel as though you’ve been transported back in time. Yet, at the same moment, subtle embellishments remind you that you are very much in the present, enjoying what Heritage Brew has thoughtfully curated for today.
The interiors blend antique pieces with carefully curated details. Vintage furniture lines the walls with warm lighting accentuating the place, while intricate tiles mimic the antique aesthetic once found in old Vigan homes. Every element feels intentional, paying tribute to the history of the Casa Pichay. It feels homey, comforting, and familiar, yet elevated with just the right amount of flair.
There are two spaces to enjoy: an outdoor patio and an indoor room where the bar is found. You really can’t go wrong with either. Each offers its own kind of comfort, making both equally inviting places to stay awhile.
Gastronomy and Coffee: Heritage Brew Style

Now, let’s move on to the gastronomy and coffee at Heritage Brew. They take pride in offering specialty coffee and savory dishes that you wouldn’t normally encounter in other cafés and restaurants around Vigan City. And that’s exactly what sets Heritage Brew apart from the rest.
Gastronomy

Their menu begins with appetizers, ranging from light and refreshing bites to more decadent indulgences. They also serve soups and a selection of pastas, where classic favorites are elevated with vibrant flavors and carefully chosen ingredients. You can order these either solo or for sharing. Over my many visits, I’ve tried several of their pasta dishes, but I particularly enjoyed the Spaghetti Bolognese the most.

Heritage Brew also offers signature dishes, which they describe as a symphony of flavors from around the world, crafted with the finest ingredients to nourish, delight, and deliver a truly satisfying dining experience. Dishes such as Nasi Goreng Ayam, Chicken Satay, and Loco Moco showcase cuisines from different countries, all available under one roof.
For those who prefer a more familiar café menu, Heritage Brew doesn’t disappoint. They serve savory, handheld comfort food through their burgers and sandwiches, including the Dirty Oji Burger, Crispy Chicken Oji Burger, and the Hungarian Sausage Sandwich. Their chicken wings are also a popular choice, available either à la carte or as a full meal.
Other food options include all-day breakfast selections, Filipino and Ilocano-style dishes, and local favorites such as Bagnet Kare-Kare, Sinigang na Bagnet, and Bagnet Sisig. And since you’re already in Vigan, why not try them, right? To end your meal on a sweet note, they also offer desserts, perfect for cleansing the palate after a savory feast.
Coffee

What truly stands out for me at Heritage Brew, though, is their coffee. It’s the main reason I keep coming back. Their signature coffee creations highlight their artistry and creativity, featuring distinctive concoctions made with premium beans and unexpected flavor pairings. These drinks are available both hot and iced. Some of their standout offerings include the Midnight Berry, Tropical Espresso, the Naughty Irishman, and my personal favorite, the Turon Latte. It’s indulgent, comforting, and perfectly suited to my sweet tooth.
Of course, they also serve classic espresso-based drinks such as Espresso and Long Black, alongside Cold Brew, milkshakes, and frappes. Non-coffee drinkers aren’t left out either, with a range of non-coffee beverages, cocktails, and refreshing drinks available.
For those who want to elevate their coffee experience, the Slow Brew Filter Coffee is a must-try. This allows you to explore coffee beans from different countries, with single-origin selections sourced from some of the best roasters around the world. You can simply ask their barista about the current selection and pricing—and let your coffee journey begin.
